Dundrum Orthodontics is a specialist orthodontic practice at 11 The Gables, Ballinteer Road, Dundrum, Dublin 16, D16 FE08. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Dundrum Orthodontics, and "you" means the patient or, where the patient is under 18, the parent or guardian responsible for them.

Appointments

Appointments can be requested by phone, by email, or through the forms on this website. A request submitted online is not confirmed until we contact you to agree a time.

Please give us at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or move an appointment. This allows us to offer the time to another patient. Repeated late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a charge and will extend your treatment time.

Please arrive on time. If you are significantly late we may need to reschedule, as running over affects every patient after you.

Consultations

Your initial consultation includes an assessment of your teeth and bite, discussion of suitable treatment options, and an explanation of the likely duration and cost. A consultation fee applies and is payable at the appointment. Where records such as X-rays, scans or photographs are needed, these may be charged separately and will be explained to you in advance.

A consultation does not commit you to treatment.

Treatment & consent

Before active treatment begins you will receive a written treatment plan setting out what is proposed, its aims and limitations, the expected duration and the full fee. Treatment starts only once you have read this, had the opportunity to ask questions, and given your consent.

Orthodontic treatment carries risks and limitations. These are set out in full on our consent for treatment page and will be discussed with you in person.

Treatment outcomes depend substantially on your cooperation, including wearing appliances, elastics and retainers as instructed, attending appointments, and maintaining good oral hygiene. Where instructions are not followed, treatment will take longer and the final result may fall short of what was planned.

Fees & payment

Fees are quoted at the start of treatment and are fixed for the agreed plan. If your treatment changes significantly, for example because of unfavourable growth or an unexpected response, any revision to the fee will be discussed and agreed with you before it applies.

Your fee covers the appliance, all routine and emergency appointments during active treatment, your first set of retainers, and retainer checks for twelve months after treatment finishes. Replacement or additional retainers are charged separately.

Payment options include payment in full at the start of treatment, which attracts a discount, or an initial deposit followed by interest-free monthly instalments over the course of treatment. Payment plans must be maintained. Where payments fall into arrears we may suspend treatment until the account is brought up to date.

Orthodontic treatment qualifies for tax relief at 20%. We will provide a completed MED 2 form for your Revenue claim on request. It is your responsibility to submit it.

Discontinued treatment

If you choose to stop treatment before it is complete, or if treatment must be discontinued for clinical reasons, we will remove your appliances safely and provide retainers where appropriate. Fees are calculated to reflect the treatment actually provided. We cannot be held responsible for the position of your teeth where treatment is abandoned part way through.

Retainers and long-term results

Teeth move throughout life. Retainers hold your result in place and must be worn as instructed for as long as you wish your teeth to stay straight. We cannot guarantee the position of your teeth where retainers are not worn, are lost, or are not replaced when damaged.

Referrals

You do not need a referral to be seen at Dundrum Orthodontics. Where you are referred by your dentist, we will keep them informed of your treatment unless you ask us not to. We may also refer you to another practitioner where your care requires it.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of your care, please tell us. Most concerns are resolved quickly by speaking to the practice directly. You may also raise a complaint with the Dental Council of Ireland.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the date of your treatment is the one that applies.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
